My story

Meet Gabrielle. This pastel tortie is sweet gal who is looking for a quiet, cat savvy home. Rambunctious kids and loud noises are not her vibe. She prefers reading nooks, toy mice and watching out the window.This cat came to the shelter with an old injury to her pelvis and right hip that healed out of alignment. Due to her injury, she is unable to extend her right hip (put her right rear leg behind her) completely. She does not show any signs of discomfort at this time and her injuries are fully healed though they do place her at higher risk of developing arthritis or other joint pain in the future. Because extending the rear legs is necessary for running and high jumps, this kitty should be indoors only as she is not as well equipped to avoid dangers like cars and predators. The adopter shoudl consult their veterinarian about best practices to keep her at a healthy weight and support her joints to keep her comfortable and active for years to come.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
