My story

Meet Tator Tot! This sweet young girl is looking for a loving home to foster her. Tator Tot is a 31 flavors mixed breed who we met back in early 2023 when her, her parents, and her many brothers and sisters came into our care. Tator, along with the rest of her family, was quickly adopted when she became of age and she spent the next two years with her new family. Tator Tot was tragically returned to us in early 2025 when her family moved into a home that did not allow pets.  Upon updating Tator's vetting, we made a heartbreaking discovery- she was highly infested with heartworms. She had fallen victim to the disease that runs rampant in our state, these tiny worms eating their way through her heart and veins. Thankfully, we are more than experieced treating this deadly infestation and have high hopes for getting Tator Tot as healthy as she is happy again. Treatment is not an issue, it's the love where a foster comes in!  Heartworm treatments, while sadly routine for us, can be a stressfull process for dogs that is only made even more exasperating by the loud and chaotic environment of the kennels at the shelter. Tator Tot is in need of a family who can give her not only love, but a comforting and safe place where she can feel secue throughout her treatment process. We at the shelter will provide all medical care and medications needed, her treatment schedule, and will be happy to answer any questions concerning her treatment. All her foster has to do it give her snacks (with medication hidden inside), lots of love, and ensure she comes to the shelter at the appropriate times for treatments and checkins.  Tator Tot is a very sweet girl, she does well with other dogs, cats, and even children. Although she can be shy and timid, a few encouraging words and some patience and she comes right around. If you already have any other dogs in the home, a meet and greet is always required.  If you're interested in giving this girl a cozy foster home, please call 615-446-7387 ##1623965##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tator Tot, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
