My story

Meet Jellie Roll!Jellie Roll was found tied to a pole in the Bronx, wearing a jacket and attached to a frayed leash. A good Samaritan waited with her until NYPD's 50th Precinct arrived and brought her to the Manhattan Animal Care Center. While her past is unknown, what's clear is that this smart, sensitive girl is eager to start a new chapter with someone who understands her need for patience, consistency, and love.🐾 My ideal homeJellie Roll would thrive in a calm, adult-only household with a structured routine. She bonds with her people when given time and space, and she'll do best in a home that allows her to go at her own pace. A quiet setting and slow introductions to new experiences will help her gain confidence and blossom.👶 Good with kids?Jellie Roll is recommended for homes without children. She can be uncomfortable with fast movements and sudden approaches, and she prefers to build trust gradually with the people around her.🐕 Good with other dogs? While Jellie Roll has walked past dogs on the street with no issue, she showed some tension during greetings in a playgroup setting. We recommend she be the only pet in the home, or have very slow, supervised introductions if other dogs are present.🐾 Leash MannersShe walks well on leash and enjoys sniffy strolls with moderate pulling toward interesting smells. Jellie Roll has made great progress with our staff-she now approaches calmly for walks and takes treats gently once she's comfortable.🩺 Overall healthJellie Roll is about 3 years old and weighs 46 lbs. She has been vaccinated, microchipped, and is overall healthy. She was treated for an upper respiratory infection and is currently recovering well.🧠 Behavior determination: Level 3Jellie Roll is a Level 3 dog due to her initial fear-based behaviors, such as barking and snapping during leashing. However, she's come a long way-she now accepts gentle handling, responds to treats, and enjoys walks. With a slow and positive approach, she opens up and becomes a curious, affectionate companion.🎉 One fun factJellie Roll loves the sniff test! Her favorite walks are slow ones where she can pause to explore every scent along the way.Jellie Roll has been through a lot, but she's ready to trade in the streets for a soft bed and a steady friend. Could that be you? 💕 Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 50 Age: 3yrs 2mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jellie Roll, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
