My story

Approximate Age: 4 years old Approximate Weight: 10 lbs Meet Hermione! ● Super sweet and affectionate — happiest when she’s near people or snuggled up with another dog. ● Needs the companionship of another dog to feel secure; she thrives when she’s not alone. ● Once anxious when left by herself, but has made remarkable progress — now calm and relaxed at home with another pet. ● Loves to nap during the day and will happily greet you at the door when you come home! ● Former mama who still carries stuffed toys around like they’re her babies (it’s adorable). ● No food or treat aggression. ● Working on potty training — uses pee pads or goes outside, but still needs some consistency. ● Sleeps soundly next to you or on a cozy dog bed. ● Rides well in the car and is an easygoing travel buddy. ● Cat-friendly! She had a chance meeting with the neighborhood cat and couldn’t care less. ● Relatively quiet overall — may whine a bit if she’s alone without a dog buddy, but doesn’t bark excessively. Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Weds 5-7pm, Fri 6-8pm, Sat 11am - 3pm, and Sun 11am - 1pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
