My story

If you’re looking for a dog who greets the world like it’s a party and she’s the guest of honor, Dunkaroo might just be your girl. She spent about a week lounging on someone’s porch before making her way to us, and we can confidently say: she is full of life, love, and opinions. She’s the type of pup who doesn’t walk into a room—she *announces* herself with a joyful bark and a tail that never stops wagging. Dunkaroo is very friendly, affectionate, and absolutely brimming with energy. She has the kind of personality that doesn’t just fill a room—it bounces off the walls (sometimes literally). She was easy to handle for her vet care and leaned into attention once she settled down, but she’s still learning how to contain all that enthusiasm. She can be a bit jumpy and mouthy when she gets excited—think of her as that friend who hugs too hard and talks with her hands—but it all comes from a place of joy, not mischief. Her shelter kennel is no match for her big feelings, so she’s pretty vocal when she sees people. But once she’s out, she just wants to be near you, soaking up love and burning off energy in equal measure. She’ll need some patience and structure to help her learn the basics, but she’s worth it—because once Dunkaroo learns the ropes, she’ll be your most devoted (and entertaining) sidekick. Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home.
