My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:Papa is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because his previous owner reports he is well behaved in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, home with adopters who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help him adjust to their new home.A volunteer writes: Papa is an outstandingly well rounded little cat. He's playful, friendly, and often said to be found lounging around in different areas of the house when he's not otherwise engaged in an adorably vigorous game of hide and seek. Chasing after bugs and hopping after crinkle toys, Papa loves to stay busy. However, the cheerful and friendly side of Papa is usually on display when he has a little time to gather his thoughts, which I can certainly understand. Meeting new people isn't easy for everyone and Papa prefers to take his time. As you can imagine, this puts a slight damper on a smooth adjustment to shelter life where new people are always in and out and sights and sounds are everywhere. Papa was brought to us with another kitty due to their person's housing issues and is trying his best to figure things out. While he hasn't felt ready to introduce himself, we don't mind making the first move. Our attempts to build a friendship with treats and soft conversation haven't gone terrifically as of yet, but a patient and understanding home will be exactly what he needs.
