My story

Meet Nala! From the moment you meet Nala, it’s clear—she’s all about love. Whether it’s people or pups, this sweet girl wants to be everyone’s best friend. In fact, she’ll happily try to cross the street just to say hello to a fellow dog. She's extremely submissive and polite in her interactions, carefully waiting for her doggy friends to give her the green light before she breaks out the play bows, zoomies, and tug-of-war invitations. Watching her learn how to play is like witnessing pure joy for the first time. Nala adores people—especially the ones who feed her! She’ll give you the most enthusiastic tail wags, hopeful eyes, and joyful wiggles even hours before mealtime (you never know, right?). She's incredibly polite when eating and is happy to wait her turn, even if a cat decides to sample her dinner. Yes, you read that right—cats are totally safe around Nala. She treats them with the same respect and gentleness she shows everyone, often backing away to let them pass or share her space without complaint. Though she loves women and kids right away, Nala can be shy around men due to her past. She came from an abusive situation and is still learning that all humans can be kind. She’s never aggressive—just cautious and careful. With patience, love, and a gentle approach, she’ll blossom into the confident, affectionate girl she’s meant to be. At home, Nala is calm, quiet, and well-mannered. She doesn’t get on the furniture, doesn’t chew human things, and doesn’t need to be crated. She’s happiest snuggled up near your bed at night or following you gently from room to room during the day. She finds joy in dog toys, peanut butter bones, sunbathing, and little household adventures. She walks beautifully on leash, loves to sniff everything, and is nearly 100% potty trained. Even though she’s a big girl, she’s easy to walk and incredibly mindful of her size—no jumping, no pulling, just lots of happy tail wags. She’s done well with baths, takes medicine easily, and absolutely lights up when it’s time for cuddles. Nala is a treasure. She’s the kind of dog who makes you smile every day, just by being her. With her kind spirit, gentle energy, and constant joy for life, Nala is ready to find her forever family—the lucky ones who will win the dog love lottery.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nala, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
