My story

CantaloupeI had quite the adventure this year! On December 23, I was found as a stray cat in Fishers. I was fortunate to be brought to the HSHC, as I had a significant wound on my right side. This required exploratory surgery, which was successful in treating the wound. I was in rough shape, extremely underweight, anemic, and dehydrated. I am 10-years-old and weigh only 5.5 pounds! However, with the proper care, I`ve made a remarkable recovery. Once I was physically better, I was sent to a foster home to improve my outlook on life. My foster mom (FM) understands I am still adjusting. She reports that I am doing well in general. I`m still skittish, and when startled, I`ll hiss and run away. She knows I might hiss and avoid being touched, but she also knows I am all bark and no bite. Because I have the run of the main level of the house, I am getting used to the routine. Sometimes I hide, and sometimes I hang out on the couch. We have developed a routine where FM squeezes an inch of squeezy treat onto her finger, and I lick it off. Hey, I`m always ready and waiting for mealtime! I enjoy being scratched on the cheeks and chin with a back scratcher. If you are sneaky and begin using your hand to scratch, I freak out and run away! But I`m slowly getting braver! FM says I am a noisy boy and will talk your head off. Also, I have perfect litterbox habits. My ideal home will be relatively quiet, with a devoted owner who will play with me and let me entertain myself. I thrive in a calm environment, so I`m looking for a home that can provide me with the peace and quiet I need to fully recover and enjoy my life. 4-3-25
