My story

Say hello to your new best friend, Colby! This handsome four-year-old Shepard/Husky mix was adopted as a puppy from I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue, but was returned due to his parents’ divorce. They obviously loved him very much and took very good care of him, taking him to training and teaching him all of his basic commands and manners including sit, shake, down, and stay - and even waiting for his dog food dish to be set down. He is fully potty trained and sleeps in his crate at night - he goes to bed on his own around 9:30 every night! But of course he would be very happy to sleep in bed with you.    Colby was raised with a Daschund and played with the family’s Pitty too. He currently lives with a 25 pound Terrier who is his best buddy in his foster home. Colby loves playing with toys and a tennis ball, which he carries just by the front of his teeth. His former owners took him to doggy day care and dog parks where he showed his social butterfly personality. He is very friendly to all people including strangers and kids, and is respectful of his foster doggy brother, his food, and toys. He has no food or toy aggression at all. He loves car rides and travels quietly with his head out of the window.   Colby would do well with a family familiar with Shepards or Huskies because these breeds can have a mischievous streak - he loves stealing napkins and paper towels! Colby can get excited on walks when he sees another dog that is excited or barking, so he needs a confident leader who will keep him in line. However, he is also happy staying at home during the day, sleeping in his doggy bed and waiting for his humans to come home to him. He does not have separation anxiety, but definitely likes to be where his humans are while at home, giving kisses, waiting at the bathroom door, or sleeping in the home office while you work. Colby wants to have a permanent family who will enjoy his sweet and goofy personality. Could that be you?   Follow Colby's adventures on his Instagram account: www.instagram.com/icare_colby If you are interested in adopting, please visit the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue website and complete an adoption application: www.icaredogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter • shots up to date • micro-chip • fecal and vet check Breed and age are not guaranteed.Click here to watch a video of Colby.June 27, 2025, 2:00 pm
