** $575 in pledges for the rescue that pulls! ** Max Garcia ACCT-A-216588 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Max must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, FOSTER or ADOPTER by MONDAY, April 28th at 10 A.M. Should Max Garcia’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Max Garcia is an approximately 11 year old senior man that came into the shelter as an owner surrender. His owner was moving and could not bring him along. Max lived with other dogs and children in his previous home, but his owner stated that he does not like cats. Max is said to be housebroken, crate trained, and knows several commands like sit, stay, paw, lay down, and stop. His previous owner stated that they hope Max is able to find a loving home. At the shelter, Max has been nothing but friendly with everyone he meets. He loves to go on walks and daytrips with staff and volunteers, and was very well behaved in doggy playgroup! Max would be a great addition to any family that is willing to give him a home for his senior years. This is what Max’s friends had to say about him: Per volunteer 4/21: Meet Max Garcia! MG is a SUPER sweet boy who was surrendered to the shelter with another dog who is said to be his son, when their owner moved and couldn't bring them along. Max loves all the good things in life- playing, cuddling, and showing love to his people! Max's owner said great things about him and his son Teddy, and spoke about how loving he is! They also said: Max love a lot of affection and he doesn’t like the heat, love to be pamper as well had eat with a spoon as well and he will tell u when he’s hungry or wants water or go outside as well. Teddy try to follow as much as he can what his father do. Per volunteer 4/20: Max was begging to come out from his kennel. Once outside in the sun, he found a tennis ball and hung out. He didn’t even really want to play with it, just chew on it, keep it in sight, and be outside. Max is a really good boy and comes ready for his next home. Per volunteer 4/20: I love him! He is such a good, sweet easy dog! So friendly and fun! And loves to be pet and cuddle Per volunteer 4/13: Such a sweet fun dog and he loves pets and to cuddle Per staff 4/13: Super sweet wiggly boy. Per volunteer 4/9: Max whines and snorts for attention. Loves fetch and butt scratches. His body may be 6 but his eyes are 80. Perfect gentleman. Playgroup 4/7: Posture forward, curious, mid level wags, whining at gate. Not steerable with the gallon shake can. Slightly steerable with the spray bottle. Jogged over toward the group on entry, hugged the fence and largely disregarded others. Sprung into a few playbows and short bursts of Tag with Ellie and Dahlia. Played some Tag / R&R with Dahlia later on. Tolerant of Dahlia's mounting (didn't offer corrections). Per volunteer 4/7: He greeted me at the front of the kennel with a wiggly body, jumping up on the door. Allowed me to leash him easily and walked nicely outside. He takes treats super gently, and he seems to be very affectionate. Took pets all over leaning into me with a very wiggly body. Pretty energetic boy and seems interested in play! He chased after toys but never actually picked them up maybe because they were muddy and wet. Chased after some birds in the play yard . Such a sweet boy!! Makes moaning noises when he gets butt rubs lol it’s very goofy. Very playful with toys inside!! no issues going back to his kennel. Such a fun and sweet boy. Playgroup 4/7: Max was a very good boy in playgroup today. He was eager to greet the other dogs and was running around and minding his business and greeting dogs when they approached him. He was able to play minimally, and is probably gentle/dainty. Per volunteer 4/6: Max Garcia was great on our Day Trip today. He pulled moderately on our walk and loved cuddling while watching TV. After some downtime, Max entertained himself with a tennis ball and bully stick. He loves fetch, and knows “drop it”, “sit”, “paw”, and “up”/“stand” commands. It appears that he might know Spanish, too! Don’t let Max Garcia’s age fool you! He is an active pup ready to play and adventure.
