Spyro (ACCT-A-216842) is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Spyro must have confirmed placement with a FOSTER, RESCUE PARTNER and/or ADOPTER by Wednesday, April 30 at 10AM. Should Spyro's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Spyro arrived at ACCT Philly on April 4th after being found as a stray. The finder couldn’t keep him, and no owner came forward. From the moment he came through our doors, Spyro has radiated joy and enthusiasm—he's a big, lovable goofball with a heart full of affection. He loves meeting new people and always greets you with tail wags and a wiggly body. Spyro knows “sit” and “down,” takes treats gently, and is responsive to redirection when his excitement gets the better of him. He enjoys chasing toys and even brings them back for more play. This bouncy guy shines with a little structure and would thrive in an active, adult home ready to match his energy and continue his training. Spyro has done well in playgroup with tolerant dogs and shows a rough-and-rowdy playstyle that’s energetic but steerable. He would love a playful dog buddy with a similar vibe or would do great as your one-and-only attention sponge. He allowed me to stick my leash in and easily loop him. Once secured he came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally to moderately HANDLING : In the room, Spyro was very loose and wiggly and a big ball of energy. He does get very jumpy, aroused and mouthy but it's tolerable and not too concerning. He does calm down with redirection or asking him to sit. He is a very smart boy with lots of energy and calms down when he needs to. He knows to sit and down and takes treats very gently.
