Meet Rex – King of the Cat Tree, Ruler of Hearts Rex is a 2-year-old Domestic Shorthair with a bold personality and a big heart. He came to us thanks to an animal advocate helping in a hoarding case. While Rex didn’t handle the shelter life well (we’ll get to that story…), he’s absolutely thrived in a foster home setting.Rex is a certified morning assistant—he helps his foster mom get ready by lounging nearby and offering moral support (and side-eye if she’s slacking). He’s all about booty rubs, toys, and attention. When she comes into the room, he trots over to greet her like royalty—because let’s be honest, Rex knows he’s the king. He’s been living with his brother in foster and doesn’t take any nonsense—he’ll stand his ground, but he’s more about love than squabbles. As for dogs? He hasn’t met many, but he’s open-minded… especially if they give him pets. Rex gets along with cats and calm dogs, and once he feels secure, he becomes a playful, affectionate, and sweet guy who loves batting toys and lounging in his cat tree like it’s his throne. But here’s where Rex’s royal attitude kicked in: after some time decompressing and thriving in his first foster home, it was decided he might be ready for adoption at the shelter. Well, His Majesty did not approve. Rex made it very clear—by using his nails—that the shelter was not his kingdom. Staff quickly called in reinforcements. With his first foster unavailable, a new foster stepped up, and after some very persuasive coaxing, Rex made it into the carrier. Now back in a home, Rex is once again thriving. His new foster says, “Rex seems to think he’s the king of the house by the way he struts around checking everything out. He’s a little rough around the edges, still learning what a love nip is, but he’s truly a sweet man. He gets along with cats and calmer dogs, loves affection (will absolutely demand it by getting in your way), and enjoys playing with balls and dangling toys on his cat tree.”Rex is looking for a forever kingdom with someone who understands that great love sometimes comes with a little sass. With patience, love, and a comfy cat tree, he’ll be your most loyal—and entertaining—companion.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt REX, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
