My story

Meet Zep – Your New Best Friend in the Making! Zep is a 1-year-old (almost 2!) sweetheart with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. At 34 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion for both outdoor adventures and lazy afternoons on the couch. She gets a little wiggly when she comes out of her kennel, but she’s easy to harness and eager to go. Zep hops right into the car and rides like a pro – calm, quiet, and content. On leash, she’s excellent. She walks beautifully, curious about ducks and squirrels but mostly indifferent to people and other dogs. If another dog gets close, she might pull a little, but she redirects easily. Zep gives attention to people who are open to meeting her and is happy to accept pets, but she likes to initiate contact on her own terms. When meeting strangers, she may bark at first – especially if they approach quickly – but with a little reassurance and a few treats, she calms down fast and warms up with ease. Zep has a great medium energy level. She enjoys walking and exploring but also loves to sit or lie down next to you for some relaxing pet sessions. Once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate – she’ll curl up in your lap and happily soak in all the love you’re willing to give. Zep is looking for someone who will give her the time and space to build trust and show off her affectionate, sweet nature. If that sounds like you, come meet her – she just might be your perfect match. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
