My story

Meet Abelard, a little dog with a big heart and an even bigger story. Life hasn’t been easy for him—he was found on the streets after being hit by a car, his tiny body left with a completely shattered pelvis. It was a heartbreaking scene, but Abelard didn’t give up. Thanks to an emergency surgery and lots of love and care, he’s on the mend and doing incredibly well. While he still has a few weeks of recovery left, he’s nearly ready to start the next chapter of his life with a forever family who will give him the love he’s always deserved.Through everything, Abelard’s spirit has never wavered. Even in pain, he wagged his tail and leaned into every bit of affection he could find. He’s remarkably trusting, endlessly affectionate, and eager to make new friends—both canine and human. Abelard has a playful, silly side that shines through as he heals, and he absolutely loves being the center of attention. He’s one of those dogs who seems to know he was given a second chance, and he makes the most of every moment.At around 6 years old, Abelard is the perfect blend of chill and curious. He walks and plays normally now, but because of his past injuries, his future family should help him avoid jumping on and off high furniture. A small ramp or set of pet stairs would be ideal for him. He’s a sweet, gentle boy who’s been through more than most but still chooses love and joy every day.
