My story

Meet Chicka! Chicka came to us with a few other cats after her owner was no longer able to care for her. Chicka is a bit shy at first, but after she warms up - look out! She is a little love bug who will paw at you for all the lovin’ she can get! Have a teaser toy? Laser light? Chicka also loves to play! She also enjoys rolling around for brushing. After Chicka arrived at Animal Friends, she spent some time in one of our many foster homes, recovering from a respiratory infection called Calicivirus. Calicivirus is a respiratory illness that can include the presence of oral ulcers, causing the tongue to be pushed forward and out of the mouth. While she is feeling all better now, Chicka’s little, pink tongue is left hanging out permanently. You have to admit, it makes her irresistibly adorable! Chicka doesn’t mind her special look and it doesn’t affect her eating or grooming habits. She is FIV+, which makes her slightly more vulnerable to infections. However, FIV+ cats are fully capable of enjoying a long and happy life in a forever home! Little Chicka would do best in a quieter environment. She is going to need a very patient adopter who understands that she is very scared of people initially. Adopters will want to slowly work to build trust and a relationship with Chicka as she adjusts to her new home.
