My story

Meet Chicka! Chicka came to us with a few other cats after their owner was no longer able to care for them. Chicka was very sick with Calicivirus when she first arrived and was sent to a foster home while she recovered. Calicivirus is a respiratory illness that can include the presence of oral ulcers, causing the tongue to be pushed forward and out of the mouth. While she is now feeling much better thanks to her time in foster care, she may have her tongue out permanently, something that doesn’t seem to bother her or affect her grooming or eating habits. Chicka is FIV+, but doesn't let that stop her from living her best life. Although she is very cute, Chicka is going to need a very patient adopter who understands that she is very scared of people. She likes to spend lots of her time hiding in her favorite cardboard cubby and enjoying time to herself. Her foster mom says that while in the room, Chicka was very reserved, but on the foster room cameras she loves to come out and play while no one is looking. Adopters will want to slowly work to build trust and a relationship with Chicka as she adjusts to her new home. Chicka is also one of Yana's Special Felines which means their requested adoption donation has been underwritten and they will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on their unique needs.  Think you may be the one for sweet Chicka?
