My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog E:5This dog is available to meet by appointment only.  Say hello to Lucio! This adorable fluff nugget was terrified when he came to the shelter but has started to relax and show his playful nature. He loves to do zoomies and burnouts in the big yard, and loves chasing the other dogs almost as much as he loves chasing balls (though he has not figured out the part about bringing them back). Lucio is food motivated and a gentle-treat taker. While he is still reserved with people and takes some time to warm up, he has started to seek out gentle pets and affection in low-pressure environments. He is seeking a patient adopter with a calm, adult household where he can decompress and continue to blossom into his goofy self. Lucio came into the shelter with his coat very matted and, for his comfort, needed to be shaved down. He will require regular grooming to look and feel his best. Please submit your adoption questionnaire if you are interested in Lucio and meet the qualifications described below.  Lucio is a challenging adult dog who probably doesn't have much experience meeting new people.  Volunteers have only been able to handle him in the last few days so he will need a very experienced adult home with the time and patience to gain his trust.  He could coexist with another small dog in the home but we do not recommend homes with children.   Lucio will be available by appointment only.  Please submit an online application.  April 19, 2025, 12:28 pm
