My story

Meet Sprout! Sprout may be tiny, but his personality is larger than life! This charming chihuahua is sure to melt your heart with his sweet smile and endearing quirks. While he might be a little shy with new humans at first, Sprout quickly warms up when he sees another dog interacting with them. For this reason, he’ll need a home with another small dog (preferably female) to help him build confidence around people. Once Sprout feels at ease, he transforms into a champion snuggler and will happily cuddle up for hours! Sprout’s favorite activities include chewing on bones, playing with toys, and romping around the yard with his foster siblings. However, he does get a bit protective of his treasures, so interactions with other dogs during playtime should be supervised. He’s also wary of larger dogs and will snap if they get too close, so a home without big canine companions is best. This little guy has some typical chihuahua stubbornness, but he’s already mastered “sit” and is making progress with potty-training, crate-training, and other basic commands. Sprout thrives on patience and consistency, so his future family should be prepared to help him keep learning. He’ll also need a home with a fenced-in yard, as he isn’t a fan of being on leash and will try to wriggle out of his harness when it’s under tension. Sprout was born with patella luxation in both knees and a slightly different tibia in his left leg, which causes it to bend out a bit. Despite his “wonky” legs, Sprout can run and use stairs like a champ, and he doesn’t require surgery at this time. However, it's possible he may need corrective surgery in one or both legs in the future. His vet suggests daily joint supplements to support his mobility as he ages, since arthritis may develop down the road. These minor challenges don’t slow him down one bit—he’s a happy, playful pup who loves life! Due to his small size and delicate legs, Sprout would do best in an adults-only home or one with older children who understand how to be gentle with him.
