Blue

My story

Blue is a handsome male Shih Tzu who came to us as a stray. Despite looking for his owners, we never found his home. Blue is four years old and weighs 16 pounds. Blue is fit and able to go for long walks. He is also quite laid back and content to hang out with you no matter what you are doing. He is not a needy dog but enjoys attention. He has not been tested around children. He gets along fairly well with most other dogs and we think he would do well as an only dog as well. At the rescue he has had some issues with male dogs but this is not uncommon with newly neutered or unneutered dogs. Like many dogs who have come from unknown backgrounds, Blue needs a little time to build trust with someone before he is comfortable with some activities. He is happy and sweet and will make an awesome companion in a quieter, less busy environment. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Blue is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Blue is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Blue’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.
