My story

Meet Simba – The Low-Rider with a Giant Heart! With his long body, short legs, and that irresistible grin, one-year-old Simba is 37 pounds of pure love wrapped in a beagle/corgi mix package. His soft coat, floppy ears, and soulful brown eyes make him as adorable as he is endearing—but it’s his sweet personality that truly wins hearts. Simba is a happy-go-lucky guy who brings joy wherever he goes. He’s affectionate, playful, and full of life. From zooming around the yard to snuggling in close for kisses and hugs, he lives every moment with enthusiasm. He enjoys walks, toys, and a good bone to chew on—especially after a burst of zoomies! He’s food-motivated (you should see his sit-and-wait skills at mealtime), crate-trained, housetrained, and sleeps soundly through the night. On leash, he walks with purpose and focus, eager for new adventures. Simba thrives with routine and guidance. He gets along well with other dogs and benefits from their companionship—especially calm, confident pups who can help show him the ropes. However, Simba can be reactive and will need slow, structured introductions to other dogs and continued positive reinforcement training. One area Simba still struggles with is fear-based reactivity toward men. Because of this, he needs a home that is calm, experienced, and patient—one that can offer him the structure and support he needs to build confidence and feel safe. He would do best in a quiet home with teens or adults, minimal visitors, and a fully fenced yard. While he enjoys canine company, Simba would likely flourish as the only pet in the home, where he can have the spotlight—and your heart—all to himself. Despite everything he’s been through, Simba remains a bright, loving soul who just wants someone to believe in him. With the right match, he’s going to make an incredibly loyal and loving companion. His adoption fee is $400 and Simba is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. Ready to give this sweet boy the life he deserves? If you have any questions or would like to adopt Simba, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
