My story

Name: Lucy, Loosie-Goosie, Loose-Goose Breed: Mixed Breed, 65lbs Age: 3 years and 9 months Lucy does not enjoy shelter life. When visitors walk through the kennels, she jumps, barks, and bounces off the walls—none of which reflect who she really is. Outside the kennel, Lucy is bubbly, affectionate, and full of personality. She greets staff with powerful butt wiggles, shows off her toys when she’s happy, and does the cutest tippy taps when she spots a treat or gets excited to play. She’s an active, high-energy girl who loves walks, adventures, and car rides—but she also has a sweet, snuggly side and will happily curl up for cuddles. The shelter is an overwhelming place, especially for a dog like Lucy who thrives on human connection. The loud, busy environment ramps up her anxiety, which is why she’s currently on Trazodone to help her stay calm. When strangers walk past her kennel, they see a dog who seems frantic—but what she really wants is someone to stop and notice the soft tail wags and hopeful eyes. She’s just trying to say, “Pick me.” In a home, Lucy settles in beautifully. She’s calm, relaxed, and eager to please. She knows “sit,” is housetrained, and loves being close to her people. She deserves a family who will give her structure, love, and a sense of safety. Lucy is an almost 4-year-old large breed mix. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, and in good health. While she hasn’t been officially dog tested, she doesn’t seem to get along with dominant females—so if there’s another dog in the home, we recommend a meet and greet. She may prefer to be the only dog, but her heart has more than enough love to go around. You can come to the shelter any time during opening hours to meet her. You can also call and leave a voicemail to make an appointment outside of business hours to meet her or to schedule a dog-to-dog meet and greet.
