** $65 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** King Leo ACCT-A-215330 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. King Leo must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Saturday, May 3rd by 10:00 am. Should King Leo’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Meet King Leo! King Leo arrived at ACCT Philly after being surrendered by his family of four years due to housing restrictions that no longer allowed dogs. His previous owner described him as a playful, sweet companion who enjoys lounging on couches, taking long walks, and playing in water. King Leo lived comfortably in a home with adults and teenagers and was reported to be fully housebroken, crate trained, and medium energy. Since arriving at the shelter, King Leo has shown himself to be a friendly and spirited gentleman. Though he can initially alert bark in his kennel, he quickly warms up once leashed, happily wagging his tail and engaging with his handlers. King Leo enjoys playing with toys, knows several basic commands like "sit" and "stay,"! He walks well on a leash with minimal pulling and interacts playfully with toys. In playgroups, King Leo has shown friendly social behavior with other dogs, though he sometimes needs guidance when overly excited. Due to his tendency to become jumpy and aroused when excited, King Leo is looking for an adult-only home or a home with children ages 15 and older. This lovable guy is ready to trade the shelter life for a cozy couch and a family to call his own—could that family be yours? BEHAVIOR NOTES: On 4/12 per staff: Steerable with spray and can. In the yard, sexually motivated. Reciprocated some greetings appropriately, but was persistently mounting Thunder (who didn't correct) and Champagne (who did twice, but KL persisted). On 4/12 per staff: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: King Leo KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender Other days was slightly reactive in his kennel according to ACA’s KENNEL PRESENTATION: King Leo was sitting half way on his bed and began alert barking when he saw me. I showed him the leash and he stopped as I slowly opened the kennel door. Once he sniffed the leash he began wagging and I secured him. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING : In the room, King Leo was pretty aroused and amped up, going straight to jump all over and began chattering and hovering over some old urine. He was able to be redirected away and focused back onto me. I was able to touch all over him but he seemed to be unsure with the handling, continuously looking back at me but still remaining neutral. I offered him a treat as well to keep the peace but he refused and chose a toy. He was super playful and fun with the toy, mouthing at it and jumping up in the air as I held it and NOT becoming snatchy. He was easy to redirect from jumping and an overall independent older man. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS: Interest and takes possession COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Blue On 4/11 per volunteer: A staff member was walking him, so he met Luvia Storm through the fence.
