My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I have lived with cats in my previous home.I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.Saffron is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he does attempt to flee or avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: When I first met Saffron, it seemed like he had already made up his mind about the Care Center except this wasn't quite the case. Yes, a well intentioned offer of treats and snacks led Saffron to retreat even further into his cubby but he will accept pets, he's just not one to seek them out. Saffron's making sense of the shelter and is doing so, as he should, on his own time. He investigates new snacks with the practiced nosey of a connoisseur and loves to play, just usually when we're not around. Saffron gets adorably excited and grateful for the things we bring him. Recognizing new crinkle toys as the tokens of love that they are, he puffs his cheeks and gently pounces after them. Saffron came to us from a home with many other cats and while he might be going at his own pace, he's hoping to find a patient family who will welcome him for just that.
