Amadeus

My story

Amadeus, a sweet gentle soul with a heart of gold who just wants to be by your side. Whether you’re doing housework, gardening, or relaxing on the couch, he’ll be your loyal companion, always nearby and keeping an eye on you. He loves his walks and gets so excited when he sees the leash, frolicking about and happily greeting everyone he meets along the way. While polite with other dogs, though he prefers calm companions and personal space—especially when enjoying one-on-one time or mealtime. He communicates everything with his big, expressive eyes, from wanting a cuddle to reminding you it’s dinnertime. While he doesn’t play with toys, he does have a playful side and loves to gallop and run about outside as if he was a youngster. He enjoys doing nose work and searching for hidden treats in various spots such as the couch or even doggie puzzle/snuffle mat. Amadeus has been working very hard on housetraining and has made significant progress, understanding that he will require frequent potty breaks is the key to his success! While his foster mom recommends that he wear a belly band in the house while getting used to the routine, once a solid routine is established no belly band will be needed. Amadeus is crate-trained and does great when left in his crate during the day or overnight, he seems to find comfort there. Amadeus has kidney disease and must stay on a KD canned food diet. His foster mom fills his water dish with filtered water—which she firmly believes has helped him tremendously—this routine has kept him feeling his best. He also loves his kidney-safe treats but can have a sensitive tummy if given anything else. He is working on learning some commands and has almost perfected the sit command! With his calm nature, soulful stare, and endless love to give, Amadeus is ready to be someone’s devoted companion. He just wants to be close to his person—and promises to fill your life with an abundance of smiles, lots of quiet joy and true unconditional love.
