My story

Some dogs come to the shelter with unknown stories—Kheilo’s is heartbreakingly clear. This loving, loyal boy lost his person when they passed away, leaving him not just homeless, but grieving. But even in the midst of so much loss, Kheilo’s gentle spirit shines. He’s a mature dog with the calm wisdom of experience—he knows sit, down, paw, and all the good house manners that come from a life once spent in a real home. Kheilo is easy to walk, easy to love, and more than ready to open his heart again. He has loved his day trips out of the shelter and would love a more permanent outing. He may be technically a senior, but he’s not done living—and certainly not done loving. Kheilo is ready to begin his next chapter with someone who believes, like he does, that the best is yet to come.To meet our available animals, visit our Northside shelter locations any day between 1–6 pm.
