Meet Kitty!Surrendered by her owner due to a new job and long hours away from home.Kitty might have a feline name, but she's all dog-25 pounds of sensitive sweetness, soulful eyes, and quiet charm. At 5 years old, she's lived with adults, cats, and kittens and was described by her former owner as friendly, playful, and "the best dog ever." Now in the shelter, she's a bit shy and overwhelmed, but she's beginning to show her gentle spirit and eagerness for companionship.🏡 My Ideal HomeKitty is looking for a calm, adult-only home where she can decompress and feel safe at her own pace. She's used to a more tranquil setting and would thrive with someone who's patient, understanding, and committed to helping her rebuild her confidence. Bonus points if there are cats-she's been great with them before!👶 Good with Kids?No young children. Due to Kitty's sensitivity and occasional anxiety, she's best suited for a home without kids under 13.🐕 Good with Other Dogs?Kitty tends to hard bark or avoid unfamiliar dogs, especially on leash. A home without other dogs-or with very gentle, calm introductions-would help her feel most secure.🦮 Leash MannersShe walks well on leash once she gets going, though she may hesitate at first in new or noisy environments. She does bark at other dogs on walks, so quiet routes or continued training will help set her up for success.🩺 Overall HealthKitty is scheduled for her spay surgery and is up to date on vaccines. She has a condition called "cherry eye" in one eye, which shelter staff recommend repairing in her future home, and she's receiving treatment for dry eye (KCS) and ear inflammation. Her prognosis is good.🧠 Behavior Determination: Level 3Kitty is a bit shy and sensitive in the shelter. She may be anxious in new situations, hesitant with handling, and wary of loud dogs or unfamiliar people. She'll do best with slow introductions and positive reinforcement techniques.🌟 One Fun FactKitty's favorite thing? A quiet space and a human who gets her. Once she's feeling safe, she transforms into a playful and affectionate companion who's full of personality.💸 Adoption Fee: $150Come meet Kitty at our Manhattan Care Center and help this gentle soul find the peaceful forever home she deserves.
