UPDATE!!Unfortunately, not one family has come forward with a good application to adopt these two awesome boys. For that reason, we must regrettable separate them in the hope that they will be able to find their forever homes. Their new homes MUST have at least one other small or medium-sized dog that can be a mentor and best friend to their new house-mate. These boys have never been an only dog, so this requirement is non-negotiable. If you can find it in your heart to adopt one or both of these boys, please submit an adoption application on the shelter website. You will not regret adopting either of these boys.MEET CRAZY LARRY & HOMERWe only have two of the 63 Chihuahuas here at the Adams County SPCA who still need forever homes—and they must be adopted together. `Homer` and `Crazy Larry` are incredibly bonded and truly need each other to thrive.Homer is a 2-year-old male who is shy and reserved, while Crazy Larry, just over 1 year old, is his playful, silly counterpart. Crazy Larry earned his name because, well—he’s a bit of a goofball! He loves to jump, run, and play, but he’s not the most graceful, which makes watching him downright hilarious. He could easily entertain himself (and you) for hours—he really should have been a court jester!Homer, on the other hand, is much more cautious. But he adores Larry and looks to him for reassurance. If Larry is okay trying something new, Homer will slowly follow. If they’re separated, they both panic until reunited—another reason they must stay together. We don’t know everything that happened to them inside the house of horrors they came from, but we do know they’ve made incredible progress over the past 8 weeks. That said, they still have a long way to go. They love our outdoor play yard with pavers, but they’ve still never touched grass. They’ve never walked on a leash. They’re currently trained to use puppy pads and wear belly bands when they’re in the office with us.What’s a belly band? It’s like a diaper for male dogs—an absorbent pad with a waterproof outer layer to help prevent accidents and protect your home. As they become more confident and can be trained to walk on a leash, they’ll be able to transition to going outside for potty breaks. But right now, they are flight risks. If they were to escape, they would run until they couldn’t anymore—and then hide. You likely wouldn’t get the chance to catch them.To help prevent this, our friends at Griffin Pond
If you have any questions or would like to adopt #51 Crazy Larry, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
