My story

Anders is a young retriever mix that we estimate to be about 2 years old. He is very scared at the shelter right now. He will need a patient home that will let him feel comfortable and start to trust at his own pace. He came in as a stray, so we don`t know his history. Did you know that black dogs are often overlooked in the shelter? They are oftentimes the dogs who stay in shelter care the longest and are chosen last. Break the stigma and adopt a black dog today. Remember, black dogs are the best dogs. Their hair doesn`t show up on black clothing and their coats don`t appear as dirty as they may be. Will you be the lucky owner of a black shelter dog? Like all our adult dogs, Anders will need to meet future canine companions before going home. He has been tolerant of other dogs in play groups. Our shelter staff will lead their introductions in a safe environment to see if they are compatible. At the main campus, you can bring your dog along when you come for adoptions if you like. is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for a loving forever home!
