My name is Morty and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: As soon as I brought Morty home, he instantly attached himself to my pit bull Marty and follows him around everywhere. It took him a few days to get comfortable but he has since settled in well at my house. He gets along with both my dogs, does great in his crate, and really loves cheese. He could care less about sitting on your lap or snuggling up with you on the couch and seems to march to the beat of his own drum. He makes funny old dog sounds, which just adds to his personality. We've been working on potty training, as he doesn't know how to alert that he has to go outside and has had a few small accidents in the house, but goes every time he's outside (so I take him out often). When my dogs aren't around, he'll just curl up in a dog bed and sleeps hard. His little grey face is very good at melting hearts. He would probably do better in a home without small children, as it seems like he may have arthritis and you have to be considerate of how you pick him up. From the Vet: Morty has been in rescue for a few weeks and has a few things we are in the process of handling for him. He needed a dental cleaning/surgery for fairly severe tartar and disease. He will be recovering from that over the next few weeks. He was recently diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease. This will require a life-long prescription kidney diet and bi-annual monitoring of kidney function with a primary care vet. All in all he is a happy senior that just needs a special place to call home and get all the love and care a senior pet deserves!
