My story

Meet Rufus! 🐾 Rufus is a bright and energetic young border collie pup, full of potential and personality. Like most puppies, he’s at the very beginning of his journey and will need a patient and committed owner to help guide him through basic obedience and potty training. Border collies are highly intelligent and eager to learn, but they also thrive on structure and consistent guidance. With the right approach, Rufus will quickly begin to pick up commands and routines. Potty training, like all early lessons, will take time and persistence, but Rufus is smart and attentive—he’ll catch on with gentle correction and lots of praise. In addition to training, he’ll need regular mental stimulation and physical exercise to stay happy and healthy. Border collies are an active breed, and Rufus will enjoy playtime, walks, and eventually more challenging activities like agility or advanced tricks. Grooming is another key part of his care. His soft, double-layered coat will require routine brushing to prevent mats and keep him looking his best. A consistent grooming routine will also help him get used to being handled, which is great for vet visits and bonding time. Rufus may be young now, but he already shows the promise of becoming a loyal, well-mannered, and loving companion. With the right mix of training, care, and attention, there's no doubt he'll grow into all the wonderful qualities border collies are celebrated for. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs 6 months and older if you already have a dog. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
