My story

Aloha! My name is Nani, just like Lilo’s big sister! I’m a super sweet and affectionate girl who’s still learning how to be brave in this big, wide world. Just like Stitch when he first landed on Earth, everything feels a little scary and unfamiliar right now. But the kind “ohana” (that’s what the staff here are!) are helping me learn that it’s okay to take things one step at a time. When I’m outside, I turn into a total goofball! Rolling around in the grass and snuggling up to the staff is my favorite thing ever. I’m always trying to wiggle into their laps or flop over with my tummy up, hoping for some well-deserved belly rubs.I’m dreaming of finding my own quiet little “ohana”, a home where I can feel safe, loved, and slowly build up my confidence. Like Lilo says, “Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” I can’t wait to find mine!IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOMESIZE:50 lbs and still growingHOME TYPE:House or Townhouse - Due to sensitivities and reactivity loud/busy apartments.CHILDREN:No- Nani is looking for an adults-only home where she can feel safe and comfortable.CATS & SMALL ANIMALS:Yes- cats potentially compatible with slow proper introduction.OTHER DOGS:Yes- Dogs potentially compatible with slow proper introductionACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:High; will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:First time dog owner possible as long as they are willing to work on difficult behaviours such as separation anxiety, reactivity and sound sensitivity.
