Name, age, breed: Redford, 1 year, mixed breed (high-energy)Likes: Playing, running, affection, toys, treats, being around people, and meeting other dogs (with supervision)Dislikes: Not much! But he can get overstimulated easily and may struggle in low-activity or tight spaces like apartments. What would be the ideal home? An active home with an experienced owner who can give Redford structure, routine, and plenty of exercise. A house with a secure yard is ideal. Not suitable for apartments or first-time dog owners.Good with other cats? Not tested – slow introductions would be necessary if considered.Good with dogs? Possibly. He comes on strong and has raised hackles during play, so a laid-back, tolerant dog would be best with careful introductions.Good with children? No kids under 12 is recommended as he is quite jumpy and energetic for small children.Temperament: Sociable, excitable, affectionate, strong-willed, high-energy. Can be rough in play and needs clear boundaries and training.Motivators? Treats! He’s food-motivated and enjoys working for rewards.Any commands? Yes – knows sit, down, and paw.House trained? Not confirmed – may need refresher training or consistency in a new environment.Crate trained? Not confirmed – crate training would likely benefit him given his energy level. How long will it take to settle into a new environment? A few weeks. We recommend looking into the 3-3-3 Rule to help understand what to expect as he adjusts to his new environment and family. He may be anxious for the first few days but is expected to settle down within a couple of weeks.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Redford is very high-energy and will benefit from mandatory obedience training and an experienced handler. He’s not suitable for apartment living. He pulls hard on leash and needs work on polite greetings and interactions with other dogs.If you think Redford is the one for you - fill out an application today!
