My story

Stella is a 92lb dog with a whole lotta love to give! Stella came to the shelter because her family is relocating and cannot bring her along. Since puppyhood, Stella has lived in a home with another dog and three small children. Her previous family described Stella as “very friendly and sweet” with the children and “gets along with everybody and all dogs”. Stella is reportedly “housetrained, well-behaved, friendly, and gentle”. She is a low-energy pup and would benefit from a patient family willing to help her with some weight loss. Stella was surrendered to the shelter with arthritis and a limb deformity which affects mobility. She can generally move around comfortably. Adopters should continue to monitor Stella’s mobility and can elect to pursue further diagnostics in the future if needed. Weight loss, pain management, and joint supplements are a good place to start for Stella! Stella even got to attend an aquatic dog exercise session here at the shelter and she was a champ on a ramp in the pool. Although Stella has previous experience living with other dogs, we highly recommend bringing any canine family members to the shelter to meet Stella and make sure she is a good fit for you pack!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
