Opal is an 8-year-old Siberian Husky who’s as sweet as she is smart. She weighs 74.5 pounds and was born on January 1, 2017. Although she’s entering her senior years, Opal still has plenty of energy and loves going for walks, running, and playing. She has a fun, silly personality and a quiet confidence about her, though she’s not above letting out some classic Husky sass when the mood strikes. She has lived peacefully with another dog and has been friendly at the dog park. While she hasn’t been exposed to cats, it’s likely best that she live in a cat-free home. Opal has been around children from newborns to age five and has always been gentle and well-mannered with them. She is completely potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside. She's never been crate trained and is used to having free roam of the house. She doesn’t like being confined or closed off in a room by herself. Opal is the kind of dog who doesn’t know a stranger—she greets everyone with warmth and curiosity. Like many Huskies, she’s clever and independent, and has been known to Houdini her way out of a harness for a neighborhood stroll. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for her if she’s to be outside alone, but she would also do well without a fence as long as her person is committed to regular walks and outdoor time together. Her current owner has made the difficult decision to rehome her not out of want, but out of love. With small children and a demanding work schedule, there simply isn’t enough time in the day to give Opal the exercise, attention, and companionship she deserves. She would thrive in a home that can offer her more space, more activity, and most importantly, more time with her people. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and lively companion, Opal just might be the perfect fit. Her adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
