My story

Meet me at the Spring Festival and Car Show April 26th 11-3 @ the JV Mall 650 Lee Blvd, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 Mid-February the hearts of the shelter staff went out to sweet Ms. Maggie when she arrived at the shelter as a stray. They noticed her rounded belly, and while they initially thought she was just a little plump, a trip to the vet unveiled a precious surprise... Maggie was going to be a mama! In those first days, Maggie was understandably so confused and frightened that she seemed to close herself off. The staff’s gentle attempts at comfort were met with a quiet stillness, and she would simply sit like a little statue in her kennel. The staff continued to slowly engage with Magge and learned that a walk, fresh air and kind voices worked a little miracle. It was as if a weight lifted, and Maggie realized they were there to offer comfort and safety. From that moment on, her sweet personality bloomed! Every hello was met with the most adorable, enthusiastic little jumps, her way of showering them with affection. A few weeks ago, marked a beautiful milestone for Maggie as she left the shelter to join her wonderful foster family in the south. Her foster mom shares that she's like a different dog! She's found such joy in the company of the other dogs, adores her new humans, and has settled into their home as if it were always meant to be. Now that it’s time for Maggie and her pups to prepare for adoption they have come to NY to stay with a new foster home and are so excited to meet you! How to meet dogs listed with “NY” : • If the dog is listed with an ‘Avail date” and a (location) – the dog cannot be met until the event and it is a first come, first served adoption event with the dogs being met in the order the potential adopters sign in. • If the dog the dog is listed as being in a (foster home) please email us at info@pawsafe.org and we will set up an appointment for you to meet the dog(s) that interest you at their foster home(s). **** We are sorry, but we cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents.
