Y'all this girl was made to be a family dog!! Coconut Candy absolutely stole the heart of Kobe who is 4 years old and is around dogs almost every day. He has met hundreds of dogs and there has been many that he really liked and loved but not once did he ever shed a tear over a dog! Well ladies and gents, he sure did shed a tear over Coconut because he wanted her to come home with him and keep her for himself. The two of them had probably only been hanging out with each other for a few minutes before Kobe started talking about how much he loved her and wanted to take her home. One of the things Coconut and Kobe love to do together is go exploring outside. The entire time you could just hear Kobe having sweet conversations with her and she was all ears (literally) and walking beside him every step of the way. When I think of what kind of dog I want for my children to grow up with I think of of a best friend they can tell all their secrets too, a warm body they can snuggle with at night, and a loyal play mate to play with in the backyard. That is the best way to describe Coconut Candy. Even though Kobe did get really sad about the thought of her not coming home with him, later on he did tell his mom, "it's okay if Coconut doesn't come home with us, I just want her to find her forever home because she deserves it." Watch her video and you'll fall in love wit her the exact same way I did: https://youtu.be/n7uHWFzyv8E?si=wrnwdG2neQQXUnT7 Coconut Candy is a pittie mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 41 lbs. Sweeter than a snicker, Coconut Candy is a total dream and if you haven't guessed it yet, she's a total sweetheart! The very first thing I noticed about Coconut is how friendly she is, and after a few seconds how friendly she is even with strangers she has never met before. She is goofy, has a perfect blended energy about her, dog friendly and incredibly tolerant! Sweet girl let me dress her up in my flannel and didn't mind me putting her legs through the arms at all. Another thing I quickly noticed about her is how soft she is! It honestly was something I wasn't expecting the first time I met her. Coconut is very dog friendly and has made friends with every dog we have introduced her to. She canbe put into the mix of any play group that is going on and she brings the life to the party! She is the type that is going to say hello to every dog in the group and like she is their very own personal cheerleader. She is so friendly and a social butterfly with dogs. She loves to play chase and to have wrestle matches with other dogs. Coconut is currently fostered with teens and BIG and small dogs. Her foster siblings have many different personalities: a dominant bigger female, a bigger reactive male, an 18 pound rat terrier that is a bully and a 13 pound weiner dog. She basically can handle anything. Coconut is also the type of lady that could be with dogs that are playful, dogs that arent playful but also does not need another dog on the home to make her happy. She is a happy confident gal on her own and will be totally fine being the center of your world. Coconut is what I like to call the best of both worlds! She has the energy to be an adventurous girly and will go everywhere with you. anywhere from going with you on a walk in the park, to exploring those hidden mountain trails, and will be just as happy playing with a toy with you in the back yard. On the other hand, Coconut has a calm side to her as well. She has no issue making her self feel right at home and finding a cozy spot on the bed for her to lay down on. We would love to see her go to a home that will want to do both! Adventure and snuggle! We also believe she would be best placed in a home with a backyard. This girl loves to be outside, sun bathing, playing with her toys, and just hanging out with her people enjoying the day. We already know she would make a great family dog and if you haven't already watched her video you definitely need to! You'll see all the reasons why Kobe loved her so much and wanted to take her home. Besides the fact that Kobe loved Coconut, we know she would make a great family dog because of how gentle, calm, patient, and engaging she was with Kobe. She took treats from him so very gently and her leash skills were so impressive when he was walking her that she didn't pull once and her leash was incredibly loose the entire time he was walking her. She truly is the dog ever parent dreams about for their kids. No need to stress about training with Coconut! She is so incredibly smart! The second you show her a treat she is already going into an automatic sit and believe me when I say, she sits on a dime the second you ask her to. She is eager to please as well so I can see her doing quite almost anything you ask her to do. She can get a little mouthy with playtime with her humans but she is gentle about it and is very respectful when you tell her no more. I know this because I played with her and encouraged her to get mouthy with me and she was having a great time (we both were) and the second I told her "alright, no more" she instantly knew what I was asking from her and went to find a toy to chew on or went to lay down. She is also potty trained and has amazing house manners. She might need remidners to go outside but thats all! We are willing to test Coconut Candy with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
