đ¶ đ COCO Female Border collie mix approximately 1 year, 50 lbs & AVAILABLE â check out more photos and see the rest of our dogs on our website -- https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ đ đ¶ COCO is a 50 pound, 1.5 year-old delight, with a tri-colored, easy care smooth coat. She is so sweet and affectionate with everyone she meets. She can be a little bit shy when she first meets someone new, but once she gets to know you, she is a sweet and affectionate cuddle bug. She likes to start her day with an early breakfast and a survey of the yard until her human sibling leaves for school. Then she hangs with her mom for a bit, waiting to go for a walk to a nearby field on leash, heeling nicely, of course. COCO especially loves her next morning ritual: walking and/or running off-leash on the ATV trail adjacent to the field. COCO is a typical young herding dog. She likes to chase anything that runs, but when she canât catch whatever sheâs chasing--and she never doesâshe often puts herself in her crate for a short nap; or she might find time to brush up on her training skills like âsit,â âheel,â âoff,â and âdownâ; playing with the other dogs is always on her daily agenda, and she is happy to submit when the play gets exuberant; and finally, an especially good day includes rolling around on the floor with the kids she lives with, even though she sometimes gets overly excited and plays a little too rough. COCO has learned a lot for a youngster. She is housebroken and crate-trained; she has a solid recall unless she sees something running and she sometimes forgets herself; she knows to heel on leash and to wait for a release word before going through the door or before eating. She sits nicely for a treat, and sheâs working on âoffâ and âdown.â She rides nicely in the car. She is very treat and food-motivated, which will help her new family continue with her training. Like many young dogs, she gets excited and jumps up on people sometimes, so she needs to continue to work on that behavior. What is COCO looking for in a forever family and home? She wants a family that will shower her with love and affection and who wants the same from her. She wants a family that will include her in their activities, and she wants to continue to learn through training how best to behave when she is included. She loves to run, so she wants a space where she can do that safely to her heartâs content. But she doesnât want to be left outside alone. Sheâd rather be playing or doing something with her family: adults, other dogs, and/or kids, but probably not cats. She likes school-aged children, but maybe little ones would be too much; in her enthusiasm, she might knock into them. If you want a sweet, affectionate, active, trainable girl to share your adventures as well as your day-to-day at home life, COCO may be the just the right dog for you. COCO is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about COCO, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. COCO is fostering in Jamestown in Tuolumne County, CA.
