My story

This adorable blonde beauty is Peyton, picked up on 4/22 with another dog named Hailey as a stray to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Peyton weighs 64 lbs and is about 4 yrs old. She appears to have American Staffordshire terrier/American pitbull/Lab retriever in her breed mix. She and Hailey are kenneled together and get along very well. In fact they seem quite bonded. Peyton has a confident, outgoing personality, and an enthusiastic and spunky nature! She is sociable, wants to hang out with a human friend and is A-OK with receiving loving attention. She looks to have had a litter or two. She did her business outside, so is possibly house trained. She knows the sit command and will do so for treats which she takes politely and can even catch them in her mouth. She is a curious girl and enjoyed exploring the yard. She may have lived as an outside dog as her coat looks a bit scruffy. She was given a flea tab, and fleas may be responsible for the sparse fur on her hindquarters. She does whine some, and may be communicating that she misses her owners and wants to go home! However, she is realistic enough to know that her people may never show up. In that case, she is willing to settle into another home in which she will be cherished, loved, and given an inside life.
