My story

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Remi is the pup you want to have around! Remi, at almost 1 year old and 39 lbs (perfect medium size) is just naturally a lover and when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt. Remi is a beautiful and sweet as can be Bernese Mountain Dog / Australian Shepherd mix (love those Bernese markings) with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes. This breed mix is according to the wisdom of the Texas vets -- Farfel's is unable to swear to it as no DNA test was done. Farfel's received a plea from a Houston shelter to save the life of Remi who was facing possible euthanasia due to a lack of space. They described this guy as wonderful and so sweet in his temperament and loving personality. Farfel's was thrilled to accept the gorgeous Remi into our rescue. The following is from Remi's foster: *** "This dog is amazing!! First off, while he does really enjoy walks and hikes, he is SO mellow and SO good at just relaxing with you or taking a toy to his bed when it's time to wind down. He is the easiest going good boy!!! He does incredible meeting new people, and he is always wagging his tail and wiggling his body when he meets new friends. Whether its on walks or even friends coming into the house, he is always happy to meet someone new. He also does well meeting other dogs out on walks. Remi is really a really sweet and easy dog and someone will be super lucky to have him!" *** Farfel's Rescue would love to see this wonderful spirit in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loving and sweet young guy. We'd hate to see this social pup left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. An at-home office would be a far better choice for Remi who would be thrilled with periodic loving up over the course of the day. Farfel's would like to see Remi in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important to the future behaviors of every dog that we're unwilling to adopt Remi to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Remi's will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths / brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep Remi's hair cottony-soft and very healthy. Remi has been fully vetted, vaccinated, and neutered. Remi is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend.
