My story

 Toby is a gorgeous, all black Retriever mix around 1 year old and 36 pounds. This sweet boy is still learning that the world can be kind. Rescued from a home overwhelmed with too many dogs, Toby didn’t get much one-on-one attention from humans early in life. As a result, he’s understandably shy and cautious around people. He likes other dogs and his comfort with canine companions makes him a great candidate for a home with a confident, friendly dog who can show him the ropes and help build his trust. Toby watches and observes new situations from a safe distance, quietly observing, and with time and patience, he’ll start to come closer, step by step. With a calm, predictable environment and a gentle touch, Toby has the potential to blossom into a loving and loyal friend. He’s looking for an adopter who understands that love doesn’t always come bounding into your lap—it sometimes sits quietly in the corner, waiting to feel safe. If you’re the kind of person who finds joy in watching small victories—a tail wag, a trusting glance, a first gentle nudge—Toby might just be your perfect match. The vet who neutered and vaccinated Toby said he is a Golden Retriever mix which is what is on his records.
