Meet Mamas, a sweet and snuggly 6-year-old girl who finds herself looking for a new family after her longtime owner surrendered her due to a new baby in the home. After spending her whole life indoors with her family, Mamas was understandably confused and heartbroken to be at the shelter—but she hasn’t let that dim her warm, loving spirit. Mamas was lucky to go to a foster home! Her foster parent has noted “ Mamas is a perfect little angel. She's doing amazing considering all the change she has undergone!” Mamas is a low-to-medium energy pup who would happily spend her days curled up on the couch, going for leisurely walks, and snuggling in your lap. She walks calmly on leash, is fully housebroken, and knows several commands like sit, down, stay, and go potty. She’s a big fan of rope toys, plushies, and squeaky toys—but her absolute favorite things are pets, snuggles, and cozy nap time with her people. While she’s not always motivated by treats, she loves fruits and veggies and will happily share your snack if you let her. She greets visitors with soft eyes and a wiggly body, and once she knows you, she’ll press into your lap like a big baby, soaking up all the love she can get. She’s described as incredibly sweet and easy to handle, with a calm, loving presence. Mamas has met a few dogs here and tends to enjoy friendly, social pups who match her energy. In playgroups, she’s been tolerant and steerable, engaging in vertical or rough-and-rowdy play depending on her partner. She seems to prefer other outgoing dogs over shy ones, and would likely thrive with a confident dog friend or as the center of attention in her forever home. While Mamas was friendly with children in her previous home, due to her protective instincts and occasional play mouthing, she’s looking for a calm, stable household with teens 15+ where she can feel secure and loved. She bonds deeply and has a loyal, protective streak—she’ll happily stand by your side through anything. Mamas is well-mannered, crate tolerant (though she may whine a bit), and eager to be your couch buddy, walking partner, and cuddle queen. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to be close to you, Mamas might be your perfect match. Could you be the warm lap and safe place this sweet girl has been waiting for? Easygoing, gentle/dainty. Initially didn't respect a correction from Koga when she was getting too forward, but immediately backed off when the handler presented the spray bottle. Playgroup 4/30/25: Steerable, vertical play, slightly/ rough rowdy, tolerant Per staff 4/30/25: Volunteer and I did a dog meet with Mamas and Chanel FKA Monroe yesterday. Monroe is very shy/timid, while Mamas was more outgoing and social. Mamas would continually approach Monroe to sniff her rear, had loose body and perked ears with wagging tail. Monroe showed very little interest in Mamas, didn't greet her, was more focused on sniffing around the yard outside. Mamas attempted to jump on Monroe several times, putting her paws up on Monroe's back. Monroe was very tolerant of this and did not react, and Mamas was friendly but persistent. Mamas may prefer to socialize with other more outgoing and playful dogs, as opposed to shy/reserved dogs like Monroe was. Per volunteer 4/27/25: Sweet Mamas is the perfect dog if you're looking for a low key girl with a gentle demeanor. Mamas will greet you with a wiggly body and soft eyes, making you feel like the most special person in the world! She loves to sit by your side, taking pets, and snuggling her head into your lap. Mamas finds herself at the shelter after her owner of 6 years got pregnant and no longer wanted her. She is understandably confused how she ended up in this super scary place after spending 6 years in a home, but we hope it's a short stay and that she's back in a safe warm bed soon! Behavior Eval per volunteer 4/27/25: Kennel presence: She is in a standup crate in the eval room and greeted me with a wiggly body at the front of the kennel. Leash: Allowed me to leash very easily and stepped right out of the kennel. She walks pretty slowly overall. Handling: When we got to the play yard, she came right to me for pets, getting comfy in my lap and taking pets all over. She seems pretty low energy and just wants to snuggle. She didn’t take treats from me she doesn’t seem to be interested in them. She’s soooo affectionate- I sat on the ground and cuddled her for a while and she was attached to me, taking in all the pets! Toys: Not too much interest that I saw Color: Green- super sweet and easy Per volunteer 4/27/25: She is in a standup crate in the eval room and greeted me with a wiggly body at the front of the kennel.
