Meet Rusty – A Gentle Spirit Looking for Safety and SupportHighlight: May require another confident dog already established in the home.Rusty is a 2-year-old Terrier mix weighing 16 pounds, and he’s a quiet, timid soul still learning how to trust. While he may be nervous around people right now, there`s a gentle heart behind those cautious eyes just waiting for the right home to help him feel safe.Rusty finds a lot of comfort in the company of other dogs and may do best in a home with a confident canine companion to guide him. Having a dog friend around helps him feel more secure and encourages him to explore and take small steps toward confidence.Though he’s not ready for cuddles just yet, Rusty is making slow progress every day. With time, patience, and a kind approach, he has the potential to grow into a loyal companion. He would thrive in a calm home that allows him to go at his own pace and discover that people can be kind, gentle, and full of love.If you have a soft spot for shy dogs and a nurturing heart, Rusty could be your most rewarding rescue yet.Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with time and a gentle approach, most of these dogs adapt quickly.
