My story

Meet Beau â&#194&#128&#194&#147 a sweet, serious soul. Beau is a 7-year-old, 65-pound Lab mix with a black and white speckled coat. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been with me since he was about two months old. He was found on the streets and picked up by the Dallas Animal Shelter, and I adopted him from there. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s always been a really chill, reserved dog. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not the kind to follow you around the house all day, but heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s usually nearby laying under a desk or in his bed. He likes pets and cuddles, especially when heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s feeling comfy, but heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s very independent and isnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t an â&#194&#128&#194&#152in your faceâ&#194&#128&#194&#153 kind of guy. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s up to date on everythingâ&#194&#128&#194&#148shots, preventatives, you name it. The main thing with Beau is his health. He has seasonal allergies that flare up sometimes, and heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s had stomach issues for a few years now. Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m not totally sure whatâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s causing themâ&#194&#128&#194&#148could be food sensitivities, allergies, something else. Right now he eats Stella & Chewyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s food, and it helps, but itâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s still a bit of a work in progress. Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve tried to be really honest about this with anyone interested because I want him to go to someone whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s willing to help him feel better and not just get frustrated. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s low energy most of the time, but still has his playful moments Beau is a social chameleon, he can read the room and adapt to it. When the vibe is chill you can find him lounging around, but if someone gets excited and playful, he does the same. He really lights up around waterâ&#194&#128&#194&#148he loves splashing in a little puddle or kiddie pool. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s good with other dogs, good with cats, and good with kids. He has a really gentle temperament overall. I think heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153d do best in a home with a yard or with someone who can take him out at least 3 times a day, but more than anything, he just needs someone patient and understanding whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s down to go on this health journey with him. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s crate trained, housebroken, and knows how to sit He walks fine on a leash, though he does pull a little when he gets excited. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not super trained, but heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s well-mannered and sweet. He understands boundariesâ&#194&#128&#194&#148heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not one of those dogs whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s constantly in your face, but if you give him love, he gives it back in his own quiet way. Why Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m rehoming him Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve had Beau for seven years, and I love him so much. But trying to figure out whatâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s going on with his stomach has been emotionally draining. For the past few years especially, itâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s been a constant source of stress and guiltâ&#194&#128&#194&#148feeling like Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m not doing enough, not knowing where to start, and just feeling really overwhelmed. I want him to go to someone whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s not in survival mode the way Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153ve been, someone who can focus and really get to the root of his health issues. Beau is such a good boy. He deserves someone whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s going to love him, take care of him, and help him feel his best. If you think you could be that person, apply to adopt Beau today. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Beau, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
