My story

Chase is an engaging and playful young cat. He thrives with plenty of enrichment and accessible windows to watch birds and squirrels. He is similar to an active dog because without enough enrichment, he gets bored and might cause some trouble, such as eating houseplants or chewing wood. He thrives with a predictable schedule for his mealtimes. He can do okay by himself for a few hours, but would probably do best with a work from home 3+ days a week situation, with dedicated playtime 2+ times a day.He would thrive best living with compassionate adult(s) who understand it will take time and patience to find and maintain a good rhythm that Chase responds well too. It is important to try and reduce/avoid situations that overstimulate him so that he can continue to learn to trust people.Chase is still learning what good boundaries with people look like. When he is overstimulated, he will communicate by nipping or swatting at people. He has been responding well to gentle but firm boundaries to communicate that nipping or swatting at people isn't welcome. Those techniques include being distracted with a toy or the word 'No.' When he is not overstimulated, he is very affectionate and engaging. He likes to cuddle on laps and generally keep people company. He loves to meet new people and will eagerly greet everyone he can with a sniff and if possible, a friendly paw on the chest or leg. He has been responding well to short petting sessions, of three or four pets. He does like kisses on his head and neck. Overall, he does not like being picked up unless it is for a minute so that he can look out the window or meet/greet someone. Being held for longer than a minute makes him restless and overstimulated. Please visit https://felinerescue.org/all-cats/ to learn more about me and where I am located!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chase Manhattan, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
