A Letter from Junebug: Hi there... my name’s Junebug. I’ve been trying really hard to be brave. I don’t know if you’ve ever had your heart broken... but I have. See, I waited a long, long time in another shelter just hoping someone would pick me. And one day, they did. I thought that was the best day of my life. But it wasn’t. Because not long after, I found myself all alone again. Dumped. Afraid. And my eyes... oh, my eyes hurt so badly. I didn’t understand why. I didn’t understand how love could feel like that. Later, I heard the words no dog should ever hear. That someone had been hurting me on purpose. Putting soap in my eyes. Because they didn’t want me there. That’s hard to understand when all you want to do is love people. But here’s the thing about me... I still believe in good. I still believe there’s someone out there who will look at me — not with anger, not with jealousy, not with cruelty — but with love. Real love. The kind of love that stays. The kind of love that brings treats for no reason and scratches behind my ears and tells me I’m a good girl every single day. I don’t need perfect. I don’t need fancy. I just need kind.
