Snowman is a gentle, boy who's feeling overwhelmed by shelter life but shines brightly once he’s given a little patience and kindness. Outside, Snowman enjoys exploring, running around, chasing tennis balls, and seeking out belly rubs and pets. He’s very affectionate, often placing his head in your lap and leaning in for more attention. Snowman knows "sit," takes treats gently, and handles being leashed and walked beautifully after his initial excitement. Snowman allows all-over handling, and is eager to find a patient, loving home where he can relax and blossom. He would love a calm environment with someone who will offer him the security and affection he craves. Snowman is ready for his fresh start — come meet this tender-hearted boy at ACCT Philly any day from 10 am to 6 pm VIDEOS Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman https://youtu.be/YOfxHRMquDY Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman 2 https://youtu.be/pYA6Z90NMKQ Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman 3 https://youtu.be/OoV5jns4hP8 Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman, Johnny Boy https://youtu.be/W8RKFsSHfPU Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman, Johnny Boy 2 https://youtu.be/b7cAAvX3bas Playgroup 4/28 Carl, Milkshake, Hugo, Snowman, Junior https://youtu.be/9I-X0PwfU2U BEHAVIOR 04/27/2025 staff notes: Took snowman out today after getting checked in last night. He was nervous in his crate, but came out with hotdogs and was able to leash him easily. After a couple minutes of exploring the play pen and using the restroom he opened up with lots of tail wags and solicited pets by running right up to me, placing his head in lap followed by some rolling over for belly rubs. allowed handling all over. He enjoyed running around with handler, chasing tennis balls and interest in crinkly toys, but did not take possession of any toys. Snowman also met another dog Tango through the fence multiple times while he was also out and showed interested with tail wags while respectfully following Tangos stride on the fence line. Snowman seemed a bit overwhelmed by the noise walking back through kennels, but easily returned to his crate with zero issue. It seems as though he is overwhelmed in a shelter setting, but a loving social boy. 04/26/2025 staff notes: Approached crate to assess for sedation. Snowman was standing quietly at front of kennel and looked at me with soft eyes; I offered him a hot dog piece and he took it gently. I went to get a leash and although he dodged it a bit at first I dropped a hot dog piece at front of crate and easily leashed him when he went to eat it. Once leashed he came quickly out of the crate and pulled hard towards the back door. Outside he immediately relieved himself and seems to have been holding it a while! We then walked around out back a bit, where Snowman demonstrated a nice "sit" and that he also enjoys american cheese slices. He is much more relaxed outside. I walked Snowman easily back inside and took him into Surgery as the other exam rooms were all in use. While he seemed a little intimidated by the cart full of cats waiting to be set up in kennels, and the shop vac gave him a bit of a hackle raise, Monica and I were able to check Snowman in easily using minimal restraint. We did muzzle out of caution but it wasn't necessary. He tolerated all handling and though his tail remained tucked he did give low wags. He solicited head pets and leaned in to my legs. We walked into the back office to get weighed and while he wasn't delighted about the scale he allowed me to pick him up and scooch him onto it. When we returned to his crate he went in easily, accepted one more hot dog piece and gave a tail wag before laying down. 04/26/2025 staff notes: Earlier today Becca was able to get the leash on his head but not over it (as she had nowhere to take an unvaccinated possibly behavior dog for check in) so didn’t want to push getting the leash on to not be able to take him anywhere. I didn’t realize a memo about that was not put in, but he didn’t move or react at all. I was passing by doing locations and he was standing near the front. He approached and sniffed my hand, then sat and eventually laid down as I am writing this memo. 04/26/2025 medical staff notes: Came over to check snowball out for intake, Whale eyeing me through the crate with very stiff body language accompanied by a low growl and uncontrollable shaking. Asking AM to place on behavior meds due to fearfulness and no TTA information since arrival on 4/24 04/26/2025 staff notes: low growling in the crate, pinned in the corner in a tight ball 04/24/2025 staff notes, intake: Dog was tied to fence in playground, dog appeared to be scared. Seemed to have calmed down a little after ride in truck ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
