My story

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.8/30/25 Betty needs a home! She’s been in rescue since April. Betty would make a great hiking/running partner!! She is active, spunky, and fun! Betty LOVES kids!! &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143She is the perfect size dog at 30 pounds! She is full grown. &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143BREED- We were told that Betty's dad is a Mountain Feist/American Coonhound mix and her mom is an Australian Shepherd.  Betty very much seems to have the traits and characteristics of the Mountain Feist breed.    &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143AGE-estimated DOB 8/18/24 making her 1 year old.  She is house trained and crate trained!! Cats-I don't think she would do well in a home with cats.  Other dogs-Betty is very quirky when it comes to other dogs. She currently is fostered with 3 other female dogs. She got along well with all of them, however, she recently had a fight with one of the dogs in the home and can no longer be around that dog, so they are being crated and rotated. She wants to fight the other dog. She has started a few fights with one of the other dogs in the home as well. She gets along well with the 110 pound Great Dane/Mastiff who is very laid back and non reactive. Betty stayed for about a month with another family while her foster had some things going on in life. There was a dog in that home whom she had gotten along with but they ended up having a fight and now she can no longer be around that dog either, because she wants to fight that dog. When Betty does fight, to be honest, she is nasty and will do whatever it takes to try to reach that other dog. As much as it will be difficult to find her a home as an only dog, we do believe that is in her best interest.  ENERGY/PERSONALITY-She is high energy and can be vocal at times when she is trying to express her wants/needs.  She loves to play with toys and loves to play fetch, though she doesn’t always bring it back. She loves to drag big sticks around and chew on them.  A fenced yard will likely be best for her due to her energy and lack of recall, but this can be negotiable depending on the situation. RIDES- Rides were new to her when she came into rescue. She has made great progress! She now seems to enjoy rides but does get a bit nervous. Slowly but surely she is making progress! &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143LEASH- She walks on a leash and enjoys going for walks but she does pull so that needs to be worked on. &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143KIDS- She has been around 13 year olds and a 7 year old and has done well.  &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143She is food motivated! She knows 'sit' and we are working on stay. She jumps some which we are also working on and she is getting much better with.  &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143She LOVES people and has the adorable wiggle but and tail wag when her people get home from work. She went camping recently and every time people walked by, she quietly watched them, wagged her tail, and really really wanted everyone to stop and say hi to her! &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143HER STORY- An elderly person had got Betty from a backyard breeder situation when she was a puppy. They decided Betty was too much for an older person, and put her for free on Facebook. Free puppies is never a good thing, so we stepped in and took her before she ended up in a bad situation or bounced from home to home. &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143She is a really cool dog! She is very agile and fast. She could likely do some agility work if someone had the time to work w/ her on it. We have tons more pics and videos! Just reach out and we'll send them to you! In New England She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
