Meet Steely Dan – A Survivor, A Sweetheart, A Superstar Steely Dan has endured more than most dogs ever should, but you’d never know it from the way he lights up a room. At just 1.5 years old and 63 pounds, this resilient pup has come through malnourishment, dog attacks, and a violent injury that left a hole in his ear—yet his heart is as full and open as ever. Now healthy, neutered, and thriving in his foster home, Steely Dan is bursting with love, energy, and joy. He’s the kind of dog who greets each day with excitement, ready for snuggles, zoomies, and whatever fun might come his way. He’s as happy curled up next to you on the couch as he is bouncing around the yard with a toy in his mouth. What makes Steely Dan so special? He’s incredibly smart and picked up potty training in just 24 hours. He already knows "sit" and "down" and is eager to learn more—especially when treats are involved. He adores people of all ages, but has shown a particular gentleness and affection with his foster’s 7-year-old daughter, who has special needs. He’s calm and patient with her, and seems to intuitively understand what it means to be gentle. Steely Dan rides beautifully in the car and lives for a good adventure. He’s not stubborn or overly independent—he simply wants to be near his people, soaking up love and giving it right back. Due to the trauma in his past, he may need time and patience when meeting other dogs, and a home without cats would be best for him. But with a slow, thoughtful introduction and a little guidance, he has the potential to blossom into the perfect companion. Steely Dan is looking for a home that can match his capacity for love and loyalty—a family who will treasure his goofiness and protect his sensitive soul. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
