You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Rocky! According to his Embark DNA test, this guy is the perfect combination of 35.5% Cattle Dog, 27.1% Boxer, 14.6% Pit Bull Terrier and the rest Super Mutt! He weighs about 45 pounds and has an estimated birthdate of December 2022. Rocky is the absolute sweetest boy you could meet. He loves nothing more than to be pet. If you stop, he gets closer to ask for more. He also has mastered a hug and loves to lean into his people for a good hug. He is truly a love! Otherwise, Rocky is a really nice middle of the road guy that is very easy to have around. He is perfectly crate trained and has mastered house training in his time with us. He enjoys playing and walks, but is perfectly happy to also just take a nap and chill. Rocky does excellent for vet care, never giving them any trouble even though he is quite nervous at the doctor. Rocky is not a particularly vocal dog and doesn't tend to bark at things outside the fence or window. In fact, its not common to hear much of any noise from him outside of when its meal time and he is waiting for his food! Rocky lives with cats and dogs and does just fine sharing his home, if you have other pets. He also lives with two kids, ages 5 and 8. Although he is pretty close to perfect, nobody is ever totally perfect. He does have a couple of quirks. Rocky is a chewer. He needs access to plenty of appropriate dog toys and a little "doggy proofing" - remote controls left out are fair game, he says. Other than that, he is simply a little scared at times. Loud trucks and thunderstorms, for example, can be quite scary. Rocky had quite the journey! He originally arrived at a Tennessee shelter in December of 2023. He had been found very skinny, full of worms and petrified. He ended up sitting at the shelter for a year hoping his forever family would come along with no luck. In December 2024, we made a small trip south and he was one of the four who came back with us! Once in Minnesota, his journey was not over yet, though. He was heartworm positive and would need to go through treatment before he could be listed. He got his last heartworm treatment on 3/28/2025 and is now healthy and cleared for adoption! Phew!
