My story

This handsome boy has quite the story—rescued from living on the streets of Texas with a pack of dogs and getting really beat up, he’s now safe, healed, and learning to be a dog again. Currently in a foster home in Fort Collins with a professional trainer, he’s making incredible progress and showing his true colors: smart, affectionate, and full of the classic cattle dog spirit. He’s a confident pup who’s been indifferent to most dogs, though when it is time to play, he brings out the typical cattle dog mouthiness! He would do best with someone who understands and appreciates the breed's energy and quirks. He adores his foster sister (a fellow cattle dog), but hasn't been a fan of small dogs or puppies. He has a wonderful way of being able to communicate fairly and effectively with other dogs when he is not interested. He loves playing fetch with a ball or frisbee and is pretty good at it despite his clumsy, uncoordinated style! He’s doing great on leash walks, shows no reactivity, and has a low prey drive—perfect for someone who loves to explore the outdoors with a loyal companion by their side. After a good walk or play session, he’s all about the snuggles and would love nothing more than to curl up next to his person. Health note: He’s heartworm positive (non-contagious) but already started treatment, which the rescue will fully cover in his new home. This boy is brave, affectionate, and just waiting for someone who sees him for the gem he is. If you’re cattle dog-savvy and ready for a loyal, loving sidekick, he might just be your perfect match.
