Fizzgig and her sister showed up at her caretaker's house in Summer 2023 as new, young mothers with their kittens in tow. The caretaker took them in and showed them how wonderful life can be in a home environment. But after a year, the caretaker needed to surrender them to a rescue when she was facing her own medical problems. Fizzgig was the first to move to LCCR, and she was really frightened by such a change in environment. She hid for two weeks straight next to the side of a bed, coming out only to eat and use the litter box. But her foster mom was persistent and kept forcing her love on her. It has paid off. Now Fizzgig is a relaxed ball of luxurious black fluff who trots around her one-room palace, lounging on windowsills, batting at balls, chasing after string toys, and rolling around on the bed while getting belly and back rubs. (She is so aggressive with her rolls, her foster parents are surprised she has ONLY fallen off the bed one time!). Fizzgig enjoyed the presence of younger cats who were in the room with her and who were used to her ways. She will need a gradual adjustment to new adult cats (most cats do), and she also lives with a dog with no problems. Her foster parents have started leaving the door open to her room so she can walk out into the hallway and see what the world is like. She gets excited by this but also is nervous and will eventually come running back in after venturing out 10 feet, usually trilling a little along the way. She needs a little time to warm up to new people but is easy to come around once you start to speak her language. Usually that means with a treat or a toy, or just hanging in the room and talking gently to her for an hour or two. Suddenly she'll flip a switch and won't be able to resist coming for some headbutts. But if she hears a sudden noise, she will run to a corner to be safe. New cats are surprised when she greets them with a hiss (hissing, as her foster mom says, is just part of her way of saying hello), and so are potential adopters who come to meet her. Her new parents will be patient, soft-spoken, and have a gentle touch, and appreciate how rewarding working with a more cautious cat can be. Fizzgig's adoption donation is $140 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing (negative), microchip, and spay.
